چکیده

Video data contains a large amount of spatial and temporal information. The changes of video frames are quite useful for motion analysis and cannot be provided by other media easily. Chang et al. had proposed an effective 2D string approach for spatial indexing of image data. In this paper, we extend this iconic approach and apply it to video data indexing. We propose 2D C-trees to represent the spatial content within individual frames. A video sequence can then be represented and indexed by a temporal set or an ordering set of 2D C-trees. The similarity retrieval of video matching problem becomes the problem of video sequence matching by computing the similarity, or the minimum cost of matched frames. We present three schemes, full-sequence matching, segment matching and subsequence matching, for video information retrieval. The matching schemes can be modified and extended to approximate sequence matching by computing the partial distance for providing a comprehensive retrieval of video data. A prototype video information system is also developed to validate the effectiveness of video data indexing by 2D C-trees. ( 1998 Academic Press

Hand Gesture Recognition from RGB-D Data using 2D and 3D Convolutional Neural Networks: a comparative study

Despite considerable enhances in recognizing hand gestures from still images, there are still many challenges in the classification of hand gestures in videos. The latter comes with more challenges, including higher computational complexity and arduous task of representing temporal features. Hand movement dynamics, represented by temporal features, have to be extracted by analyzing the total fr...

Discovering knowledge for better video indexing based on colors

In this paper, we present the discovery of rules for different challenges encountered in video indexing. These rules should be considered as knowledge that can be used as a guideline for the development of better indexing tools. We use a fuzzy decision tree to extract the rules based on color proportions of key-frames extracted from one single video-news. Experimental results and comparisons wi...

VideoGIS: Segmenting and indexing video based on geographic information

The VideoGIS project aims at combining video and geographic information in order to dynamically generate hypervideos that will be navigable by geographic content. After a brief survey, we describe our segmentation approach, based on geographic content, and discuss indexing of both geographic and video information, where we have used Frame-segment trees. Then we describe our geographic related q...

Discovering Rules using Fuzzy Decision Trees for better Visual Indexing based on Colors

This paper presents results, at an early stage of research work, of the use of fuzzy decision trees in a multimedia framework. We present the discovery of rules in three different indexing scenarios. These rules represent knowledge that can be interpreted as guidelines for the development of better indexing tools. We use a fuzzy decision tree algorithm to extract these rules (just) from color p...
